Behringer - BO100 Blues Overdrive
Type(s): overdrive
Overview
What We Say:
A lot of Behringer pedals are based around the classic Boss gear but use cheaper, lower-quality components in order to be able to sell the pedals on at a very low price. The Blues Overdrive is designed to be a crunchy, full overdrive that emulates the classic British blues sound. I have never played this particular pedal.

The BO-100 is a fairly usable pedal. It’s not warm though like a tube screamer or other popularized OD pedals. I use it with a strat and mostly fender amps, and the tone control has to be three-quarters of the way down to get rid of the heavy duty mid/high boost inherent in the pedal. For me, it acts as a nice volume boost with a touch of breakup sound, so similar to what yu might hear on the clean channel of a fender tube amp when it’s set on about 6 or 7. It also drives my DS1 very well for a distinctive lead sound when turned on. I run the gain on the BO-100 nearly off, tone at about a quarter from off, and the level about noon.
The level and gain controls are very interactive, so you have to find the sweet spot for the kind of breakup, OD or distortion you want without having a drastic volume jump.
I would say the pedal sounds a little brittle compared to other similar stomp boxes. But for $30, or less, it’s a pretty decent usable pedal. With some minor component mods, it would probably rival pedals 10 times the price.
