Comment, Rate, Signup Disabled
Hey guys! Some important news regarding the functionality of DirtBox.
Originally to comment or to post thumbs up (and down) ratings as well as star ratings on the review pages you had to sign up for an account at DB. This was of course free, and we did have a respectable amount of members at one point, but this system just feels out-dated and elitist. A small discussion occurred on the forum and I decided to remove membership for DB.
What this means for you
This means that now you can comment and post ratings on every post you see on DirtBox, let your voices be heard. Don’t agree with a certain review? Then let us know about in the comments area, but please, keep it civil and respectable.
What this means for members
Nothing really. Your accounts will be deleted but don’t worry, nothing will change and I will always remember that you helped support DirtBox throughout its first year.
To access the forum you will of course still have to sign up as per any other forum.
Now, I have already thought about the possibility of a company getting loads of people to head to the reviews pages and vote up their products. I see no reason why any respectable company would do this but don’t worry because it will be obvious if this is happening and all of those ratings will be pulled, IP addresses blocked etc etc…
What is the point in all of this?
Well, by giving feedback in the form of ratings and comments I know which articles you guys are enjoying, and which articles you guys are not and can better tailor the site to your (as a whole group) needs which should help improve the site. Also it means that people who do not want to partake in the forum still have the abillity to discuss certain topics etc on site.
I hope this new, user-friendly functionality is beneficial to you and I hope you guys start posting more and debating more on site, as well as in the forum.
Adam
