Boss HF-2 {Hi-Band Flanger}
Until I bought this on ebay a few years ago I had no idea what it was or what it did but it seemed to promise unique sounds and I got it at about £30.00, maybe less. Bargain!
Maybe it isn’t a classic yet, but I have noticed an increasing amount of information regarding this pedal online and people are starting to discuss it more and more.
Long story short what it basically does is flange your signal in the usual way but only an octave up. This has great potential for creating ambient synth like sounds but it also works great on lead tones when in the subtler settings it has to
offer.
As you can see from the pictures mine is a little bruised but still works perfectly. I believe this pedal is a one of a kind (with exception of the recent Behringer clone) and have never seen a similar unit. Now the HF-2 is not particularly rare as it stands but I have noticed an increase in demand on ebay and the earlier MIJ ones (around 1986) can fetch around 100 pounds from collectors and enthusiasts.
Mine is a made in Taiwan version which dates it between 1990 and 1995, for some reason I recall this being a 1991 model but I am not sure why, I could be wrong.
Anyway, this is a great and unique pedal with quite a lot of possibilities and I think in about 5-10 years time people are going to be paying a lot more than £30 for this.
